Snapchat Inc. has 150 million people using the service each day. That is significantly more than Twitter, based on the company’s last public statement.
Snapchat had 110 million daily active users in December, according to the Bloomberg report. That means its user base has grown by more than 35% in just five months! In its last financial report, Twitter said that its total user base had grown by just 3% worldwide—and didn’t grow at all in the United States. Whoomp, whoomp….
To be fair, Twitter doesn’t report exactly how many daily active users it has, but this is still not good news for investors. Last month, data suggested that Twitter had been overtaken by Snapchat for the very first time in the area of installed apps on Android devices in the U.S. Many had predicted that the data might have prompted the microblogging website to re-enter damage control mode. Didn’t happen. Yet.
According to the report by SimilarWeb, Snapchat is on more Android devices than Twitter. As of April 30, Snapchat was on 22.7 percent of U.S. Android devices, compared to Twitter’s 21.8 percent.
